ABOUT OUR CONFERENCE
THE TANGIER MODEL UNITED NATIONS, OR TMUN, IS A YEARLY CONFERENCE THAT AIMS TO REPLICATE THE REAL UNITED NATIONS EXPERIENCE FOR PARTICIPANTS FROM BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF MOROCCO. THIS CONFERENCE RUNS WITH THE GOAL OF MAKING TODAY'S YOUTH AWARE OF CURRENT WORLD ISSUES AND INSPIRE THEM TO TAKE ACTION. EVERY YEAR, STUDENTS TRAVEL FROM ALL OVER TO THE BEAUTIFUL CITY OF TANGIER, MOROCCO TO ATTEND OUR THREE DAY CONFERENCE. THE FIRST DAY IS DEDICATED TO THE THE OPENING CEREMONY AT THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, WHERE DELEGATES GET THE CHANCE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE THEME AND THEIR RESPECTIVE COMMITTEE TOPICS. THE FOLLOWING DAY, DELEGATES COLLABORATE THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF THE DAY TO COME UP WITH THE BEST POSSIBLE RESOLUTION TO BE PRESENTED AT THE CLOSING CEREMONY THE FINAL DAY OF THE CONFERENCE.

PREVIOUS TMUN EXPERIENCES
Tangier Model UN has been a life-changing experience. From participating as a delegate, a chair, a member of the secretariat, and Secretary General, TMUN has played a prominent role in shaping my charcter, attitude, and work ethic. It gave me confidence to stand for what I believed in and communicate my thoughts and ideas clearly. TMUN played a major part in shaping the values and principles I hold today. It made me listen more to what people have to say and while I might disagree, still respect their position, beliefs, and passion. It taught me the values of teamwork, the responsibility of leadership, and importance of co-existence. Looking back, it has truly been an overall fun experience full of growth and opportunities.
- Zaid Semmami, AST Alumni
This year’s TMUN conference was something really special, being my first one. It was really well organised. We managed to get serious when it was time to debate and also have fun all together. Its multicultural aspect is also something to highlight. Imagine gathering many nations in one single place and seeing them getting along.
- Yara Djeddou, Lycée Regnault
Tangier Model United Nations is something that I look forward to every year. I have had the wonderful opportunity to engage myself in debating world issues with other young people such as myself, and it has strengthened my interest in international relations and politics. I believe that Tangier Model United Nations has also changed my perspective on the world because it requires me to represent other nations’ beliefs, which forces me to approach the issues at hand differently than I otherwise would have. I would strongly encourage any student to participate in TMUN if they are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to do so.
- Sarah West, American School of Tangier
